You need to prove that the subjects you have studied in your initial Dentistry degree back home cover all the subjects which are taught in UK in the hygienist/ therapist degrees. You have to send them your university’s degree study syllabus. The topics which are not covered in your own degree and were taught in UK, you have to overcome them by doing CPDs. What CPDs you need to do is another question and you’ll only know once you will match the syllabus of your degree and UK’s own degree. Every university in the same country should taught the same courses because they are regulated by their Medical/Dental Council. Depending upon the country you are from you should approach your university or the council and ask for the list of subjects.

For reference below are my CPDs which I had to do to overcome the topics which were left in my degree and they should be the same for every other Pakistani since the subjects are same in every university in Pakistan and they come under Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).

You can do CPDs from various websites, you have to pay a yearly subscription and can do as much cpds as you want. I did from 3 of them:

1.ISOPHARM.

2.PRODENTAL.

3.Dentalcare(This is free)

I couldn’t manage to register to Prodental as I dont have any GDC Registration number? How can I register to do the CPD s? I finished isopharm CPD s ☺️☺️

You can just enter the GDC application reference number for now. This reference number could be found in any GDC email which you may have received from them.

Nadiye did you manage to register on Prodental? if so ,could you help me please how did you do it? I filled in everything inc GDC number and the page is “frozen “. I am pressing “next” and nothing happens ,so confusing ….I have tried 5 times

Yes, I managed to register on prodental, I added my practice address as well. You should have registered if you provide sufficient information 🤔🤔 try again and if not check what s the problem let me know

In Dental care registration details it is asking about the Address of clinic and country. There are no options to select for counties outside UK except few. Two slots are asking about the country out of which only one spot has an option for OTHER. The second one doesn’t have options for any Asian countries. How can I register?

Do we compulsorily need to register to access the content and get the certificate? Please help.

i am not able to take the test at the end in dentalcare.com CPD without registration. Also the guidelines for continuing professional development states that evidence needs to be provided, how can a certificate for the same be produced? Awaiting your reply. Thank you.

Show yourself as a dental nurse then you can be abla to get a certificate

@ nadiye horoz, thank you dear. i’ll try the certificate part as you said, but while registering it is asking for clinic address and country. the country options are not present for asian countries.

Hi,

For dentalcare one need to enter practice name and address for UK .Its not available for asian countries.When I did my consultant helped me in registering she basically put her practice address and I got registered.If you know anyone who can do this for you then ask them.Otherwise just do cpds from prodental and isopharm.All the important cpds you can do from these 2.

If i can ask for a dentist in UK for the address and enter that will it not be a problem? i don’t stay there.

Also please guide me on getting the certificate to produce as evidence of CPD. 

does the certificate contain the details of the clinic address of the owner?

Hello there. I am a qualified dentist from India and have passed my nursing theory exam in UK soon to complete the OSCES and registered with GDC.

May I kindly ask if I am supposed to do any further CPDS if I am registered as a dental nurse in this country to get registered as a dental hygienist? I found many CPD topics covered in my dental nursing course so, I suppose the nursing certificate should suffice for some CPD listed but I am not sure which are to be done as extra.
